Reflection on the V in WOVE
For Assignment #5, I created my own visual by using a poster board, colored construction paper, markers, glitter, and glue. Unfortunately, because I used real materials instead of a technology based visual, I am unable to physically change and revise my original image. With that being said, I am going to run through some of the things I would have done differently, if I were to get the chance to do the assignment over again. Starting from the top of the visual, I would have first changed the location of the curving arrow to the other end of the arrow, so it was aiming right and at the end of the word "WAY." I feel that if it were repositioned there, it would better resemble the "HEALTHIER CHOICE THAT WAY" slogan that I added in. It would also make more sense because the way that it is right now, the red "cross-out" sign is covering that arrow slightly, and that is not what I wanted it to resemble at all. The second thing that I would improve, would be the size of the font for "CHOICE THAT". Right now, I feel that it is a little too small of font, and that it doesn't stand-out as much as I would like it to. I would also possibly write it more in the yellow arrow, so that it would be more clear as to what I was meaning to say. The third change that I would make, is the thickness of the font for the "WAY" part in "SUBWAY," located in the middle of the visual. I feel that it is too skinny right now, making it not match-up enough with the "SUB" font in "SUBWAY." I was also disappointed that the pencil marks didn't erase in the "WAY" lettering, so I would erase that before coloring in the lettering next time. The fourth and final thing that I would change with my visual would be the size of the font for "fresh," located in the bottom right corner of my visual. My original intentions were for the "fresh" lettering to look smaller than the "eat" letter located in the bottom left corner of the visual. Unfortunately, it didm't turnout as I had hoped. The reason I would like the "fresh" lettering written in a smaller font is because that was one of the aspects that I was disagreeing with the Subway's original advertisement. Overall, I put a lot of time, thought, and effort into my original visual, and I am very proud of how it turned-out; with the exception of the four or five changes that I would have liked to make. This was one of my favorite assignments, and I would love to have the opportunity to do something like it again.
