Reflection on the E in WOVE
Over the course of the semester, I have communicated back and forth via e-mail and Edmodo, with Ms. Henderson. I have found that from the very beginning, Ms. Henderson and I have had a very professional relationship. Even though Ms. Henderson and I's relationship has grown over the course of the semester, I have continued to address her in a professional manner. In my first e-mail you can see that I address her as "Professor Henderson," but in the following two examples, I address her as "Ms. Henderson." The reason I first addressed her as "Professor Henderson," was because that is the proper and respectful way to first address a professor when they haven't given you an alternative name that they prefer. I also constructed all of my e-mails and commentaries on Edmodo in easy to read format, first stating hello, then moving into the body of the e-mail or comment, and then a proper closing. Doing this makes it easy for the professor to read and understand the message and questions that are being presented. One thing that I found in Ms. Henderson and I's e-mails back and forth were smiley faces. Although our professional relationship has grown since the beginning of the semester, the smiley faces could still be seen as very unprofessional and too playful for a school related e-mail or commentary context. Overall, I feel that I have been consistently composed and professional with my e-mails with all of my professors, and I am glad that I did so, because it has created some great growing professional relationships with them.
